New ideas… just keep writing.
Let’s be real for a second….writer’s block is real. It happens to all of us, whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been writing for years. One day the words are flowing, and the next day? Nothing. Blank page, no ideas, no motivation., just vibes… and not the good ones.
So what do you do?
You put the pen down. You close the laptop. And yes… you go touch grass.
No, but seriously; step away for a moment. Go outside, get some sun, watch a comforting show, take a nap, scroll a little (but not too much 👀). Give your mind a break. Sometimes your brain just needs space to reset. You don’t have to force creativity; it comes back when you’re ready.
And sometimes? You might just have writer’s block.
That’s okay.
Take the time you need to relax and come back with a clear mind. That might be a day, a week… or even a month. Let’s just be honest about it. Creativity doesn’t run on a strict schedule, and forcing it usually makes it worse.
Now me? When I hit writer’s block, I don’t sit there fighting it. I just start writing something else.
I am notorious for writing 10–15 chapters of a story, hitting a wall, and then starting a completely new book and story. And honestly? That usually gets the creative juices flowing again. When I circle back to the original story, I come back with fresh ideas, new energy, and a clearer direction.
If you love writing, you’re probably the same way.
You start new ideas, new concepts, you build background characters, random plots, side stories… and things that may or may not ever become a full book. I’ve done this plenty of times and yes, there are stories I didn’t come back to for months.
And guess what?
That’s okay too.
Not every idea has to be finished right away, not every story needs to be forced into existence, and sometimes the best thing you can do for your writing is to step away, explore something new, and come back when it feels right.
At the end of the day, just remember this:
You’re still a writer even on the days you don’t write.
And when the ideas come back?
Run with them.
